Kornit Digital and Our Printing Process
At Promio, we use Kornit Digital, the only digital textile printing technology that enables single-step pigment printing using a “wet-on-wet” process.
Why is this beneficial for both us and you? Because it ensures fast, high-quality, cost-efficient, and environmentally friendly production.
What is “Wet-on-Wet” Printing?
With our Kornit systems, external pre- and post-treatment processes are no longer required. We apply a fixation layer directly onto the fabric and immediately follow it with a layer of proprietary inks.
All of this happens in one integrated step, making the production process faster and more efficient.
Are the Materials Environmentally Friendly?
Yes. The fixation agents and inks we use are composed of substances that comply with TSCA, REACH, and other certified standards. They are also certified as:
- Vegan
- OEKO-TEX Eco Passport
- GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
- ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals)
Additionally, they meet various MRSL and RSL requirements.
Our systems are specifically designed to work only with these certified chemicals, ensuring that all printed materials meet strict industry standards for sustainability.
How Does This Process Reduce CO₂ Emissions?
Because we use a single-step printing process, we significantly reduce the consumption of water and energy, while also lowering greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional analog printing methods.
A life cycle analysis (LCA) of the Presto S roll-to-roll direct-to-fabric system shows reductions of up to:
- 83% less greenhouse gas emissions
- 95% less water usage
- 94% less energy consumption…compared to conventional alternatives.
