# **How Do I Choose Between DTG and DTF?**

**How do I select the printing technique per product?**
Within our designer, multiple printing techniques are available for each product.
We offer two printing methods: **DTG** and **DTF**.
When creating or editing a design, this choice is visible in the designer when placing an order manually or when linking a product from Promio to your webshop. You can select the printing method using the option in the **top-left corner**.


**Important: Select the Printing Technique First**
It is important to choose the printing technique **before uploading your file**.
If you upload the file first and then change the printing method, the file may be submitted twice, and it will be unclear which printing technique you prefer.

The images in this guide show where the printing technique can be selected and how it is displayed within the design environment.


**Selecting the Printing Technique for Linked Products**
Do you want to add a product from your webshop to our system? That is also possible.
Once a product has been completed and exported, it will appear as a **linked product**. Within this linked product, you can select the desired printing technique.
This setting determines whether the product will be produced using **DTG or DTF**, and it has a direct impact on how the product is printed.


**Consistency Between Mockup and Design**
When setting up the mockup and adjusting the design, the same printing technique must be selected.
* The **mockup** is used for visual presentation
* The **design settings** determine the actual production method

By following these steps, your products will be set up correctly within the integration, ensuring that the correct printing technique is used during production.
It is therefore important to apply these settings **carefully and consistently**.


**Please note: Not all products can be printed using DTG**
Some products are only suitable for **DTF (Direct to Film)** printing due to their design or material.
* **Sleeve printing:**
Printing on sleeves is only available with **DTF**. As long as a product is set to **DTG**, sleeve printing cannot be added.
* **Polo shirts:**
Polo shirts can only be printed using **DTF**, as the buttons on the front prevent them from being processed with **DTG**.
* **Sportswear (e.g. JC001):**
Sportswear, such as the **JC001**, can only be printed using **DTF**. This is due to the fabric composition, which is not suitable for **DTG** printing.
**Please keep this in mind when choosing between DTG and DTF printing.**
