# DTG Printing

# **What is DTG printing?**

DTG printing (Direct to Garment) is a modern printing technique where a design is printed directly onto a garment. The ink is absorbed into the fabric, resulting in a soft, high-quality print.
Using a specialized printer, water-based ink is applied directly to the textile. This ink penetrates deeply into the fibers, making the print part of the fabric rather than sitting on top of it.

**How Does DTG Printing Work?**
The DTG process consists of several precise steps that together create a professional end result:
**Pre-treatment of the Garment**
The textile is treated with a special pre-treatment liquid. This layer ensures better ink adhesion and allows the colors to appear more vivid.
**Printing the Design**
The garment is carefully positioned on the printer platen. The design is then printed directly onto the fabric using water-based ink. The printer uses highly precise printheads, allowing even the smallest details to be reproduced sharply.
**Curing the Print**
After printing, the garment is heated — using a heat tunnel — so the ink bonds permanently with the fibers. This process makes the print durable and resistant to washing.

**Please note: Not all products can be printed using DTG**
Some products are only suitable for **DTF (Direct to Film)** printing due to their design or material.
* **Sleeve printing:**
Printing on sleeves is only available with **DTF**. As long as a product is set to **DTG**, sleeve printing cannot be added.
* **Polo shirts:**
Polo shirts can only be printed using **DTF**, as the buttons on the front prevent them from being processed with **DTG**.
* **Sportswear (e.g. JC001):**
Sportswear, such as the **JC001**, can only be printed using **DTF**. This is due to the fabric composition, which is not suitable for **DTG** printing.
